Clio Park TNR Project

In January of this year, Jackie & Joe’s Pet Care started a TNR project with Angie’s Alley Cats for a large cat colony at Clio Park. If you want to learn more about the colony and why we started the project you can visit our blog about Mochi’s colony here

We did a lot of fundraising for the project and were blown away by all of the love and support we received from our community! We raised $1,075 from the community and Jackie & Joe’s donated another $340 from our earnings in January, for a total of $1,415. All expenses went towards spaying and neutering the cats, other vet expenses, and food. Throughout this project, we were also able to supply the cats with seven insulated shelters and a heated water bowl with our donations!

As we wrap up our TNR project, we would love to share the difference you all have made for this colony. Here are the sweet faces of this project:

Midori- female, ~6 months old, ~4 lbs.

She was severely underweight for her age and had lice. After she was spayed, we temporarily fostered Midori to see if she would be a good candidate for socialization and adoption. Unfortunately, Midori was too feral and was returned to the colony after she gained weight and was treated for her lice.

Boba- f

emale, ~ 2-4 years old, ~7 lbs.

She was slightly underweight and had lice. Usually, adult colony cats are too feral for foster, so Boba was returned to the colony after was spayed and treated for her lice.

Miso- f

emale, ~1 year old, ~6 lbs.

She was slightly underweight, in heat, and had lice when we trapped her. She needed to stay away from males for 2 weeks after her spay due to being in heat, so she was returned to the colony after that time. She received lice treatment and gained weight before release.

Sushi- m

ale, ~6 months old, ~5 lbs.

He was slightly underweight and had lice when we trapped him. After he was neutered, Sushi went to a foster home where it was determined that he was a great candidate for socialization! He will be at his foster home until he can find his forever home!

Matcha

- female, ~6 months old, ~3 lbs.

She was severely underweight with an upper respiratory infection and lice when we trapped her. After she was spayed, Matcha went to a foster home for treatment of her infection and to gain weight. It was determined that she was a great candidate for socialization and she was transferred to a foster-to-adopt home!

Sakura

- female, ~6 months old, ~4 lbs.

She was severely underweight with lice when we trapped her. After she was spayed, Sakura went to a foster home where it was determined that she was a great candidate for socialization! She quickly found her forever home and is now a spoiled kitten with a loving family!

Fuji- f

emale, ~6 months old, ~4 lbs

She was severely underweight for her age and had lice. After she was spayed, we temporarily fostered Fuji to see if she would be a good candidate for socialization and adoption. Unfortunately, Fuji was too feral and was returned to the colony after she gained weight and was treated for her lice.

Ocha

- female, ~2 years old, ~7 lbs.

She was slightly underweight with an upper respiratory infection and lice when we trapped her. After she was spayed she was returned to the colony after gaining some weight, getting lice treatment, and getting a shot of penicillin

Ramen- m

ale, ~6-8 years old, ~7 lbs

Ramen has been living in the colony for a while and is old for a colony cat. When we trapped him he was in rough condition. He was severely underweight with a heavy lice infestation and severe upper respiratory infection. Despite being very feral, the vet asked us to hold onto him for at least 10 days to treat him and help him gain weight. After 10 days, he was released back to his colony.

Dumpling

- female, ~6 mos old, ~4 lbs

She was severely underweight for her age and had lice. After she was spayed, we temporarily fostered Dumpling to see if she would be a good candidate for socialization and adoption. Unfortunately, Dumpling was too feral and was returned to the colony after she gained weight and was treated for her lice.

Bear

- female, 8-12 weeks old

We attempted to trap Bear multiple times, but she was so tiny that her weight didn’t set the trap off. Unfortunately, Bear became dehydrated from parasitic worms & lice and as a result, got hypothermia. She was found face down in the snow when our colony caretaker took her in and called us. Bear was treated for her condition at an emergency vet but in the end, she did not survive due to permanent organ damage.

Momo- male, ~1 year

Surprisingly, Momo was in good health upon capture and after getting fixed, he was released back to the colony. He did have a wound on his hip, but it was healing and was nothing of concern.

We want to give a big thank you to everyone who has helped us with this project. Especially, Angie’s Alley Cats- we couldn’t have done it without you! Also, All About Animals, who offers spaying and neutering for stray cats at a discounted price. We are so happy to share our community with people who care so much about these kitties. Please spay and neuter your pets!
